Amélie Scotta
°1983, born in Nantes (F).
About the artist
Amélie Scotta is a visual artist, with degrees in Art from La Cambre in Brussels and Design from HEAR in Strasbourg. She has been recognized with various awards and artistic residencies, including the Prix Cocof, Prix Carré sur Seine, and residencies at the Casa de Velázquez, Cité Internationale des Arts and Boghossian Foundation. Scotta regularly exhibits her work in France, Belgium and internationally.
Her artistic practice explores architecture in all its forms, from monumental structures like the Jeddah Tower, the abandonned factories of Roubaix, and Rio’s stadiums to Brussel’s scaffolding or medieval recluses. Through her art, she investigates how human beings both inabits and build their environments. While her work often begins with drawing, it extends to sculpture and photography, using construction as a means to reflect on the human experience.
