For her solo exhibition at the Michèle Schoonjans Gallery in Brussels, Amélie Scotta has chosen as her theme, the mechanisms of urban evolution and the idea of the perpetual movement of architecture. Portraying construction and development, destruction and chaos generate automatically natural causes. By focusing on the early design elements of building construction (tarpaulins, scaffolding, excavations, etc.), she freezes ephemeral constructions that are not meant to be seen and that form the evolution of a structure in the making. These structures, of moving lines and draperies, remind us of a skeleton and skin, and are therefore proof of the city as a living organism.
