Laurent Dumortier invites us to voyeurism, he leads us towards places that are likely to be strange and fantastic. He places us in front of windows with white lintels and posts, with panes haunted by the darkness of the night on which they overlook. Closed or half-open, their panes windows reveal scenes that can be sensed or reflected beyond. They filter the outside world, restoring a mystery hidden by the everyday appearance of what appears in an implicit way. A universe related to those of Jean Ray, Thomas Owen or Jean-Baptiste Baronian.
Sometimes, a sketch of mise en abyme invites itself into the space. Other windows, clearly white, are inserted at the same time as intruders from a place that itself comes from an esoteric source. Like cartoon squares, these windows seem to add a new story to the one already told by the suggested presences.
